I am currently working on the RIC Communications Committee and the Family History and Archives Committee. Tom Rasmussen, with his deep knowledge of family history, has been introducing me to the many fascinating family treasures that have been tucked away for years. As we go through the archives here at the FCI offices in St. Paul, MN, we are finding incredible bits of our family history in the forms of letters, photos, documents, and films. We feel that it could be in the family's interest to regularly highlight some of our most compelling findings, in a curated fashion, so as to give the family an easily accessible window into our family's history. Some of the documents and letters that we come across have not been digitized, and have likely not been seen for years. The writing in many of the letters and recollections of the Weyerhaeuser children is truly incredible, including letters from Elise to her siblings during her and Bancroft's travels through Eastern Asia by steamship, or F.K.'s letters and writings about being a pilot in WWI.
These findings will be posted here, and possibly on our other social media accounts. We are also open to any suggestions for highlights, should you happen to find anything while going through the archives online, or should you find a physical artifact in your family's attic. We hope this project will create the feeling of a "living archive."
Until next time, Fellow Historians
